Beating Heart

And it will crack
eventually.
The bucket in which
you have gathered
securely
all your life's ambitions, hopes and dreams

It will give way
right at the bottom
smack bang in the middle

And you will realise
woefully
that all you have -
this side of heaven -
all that you truly have
is the heart
beating
inside of you
