To Buhari.

Dear Sir,

Do Us A Favour. Go Home.

Do you know that your hypocrisy shines bright like the kaftans that you wear? Do you care? I'm sure you know and accept that since you became president, scores of innocent Nigerians have been mindlessly slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen. Do you care?

Sir, you walk around as though you owe nobody anything. Not the Nigerians who trusted and voted you in. Not the children of said Nigerians who need a safe, viable environment in order to thrive like their counterparts around the world. Not the elderly who once knew a Nigeria that flourished. Do you care?

Sir, as a writer I know and have experienced the power that words carry. But as a Nigerian I have also come to a place where words mean nothing. Words like your campaign promises. Words like your "my deepest condolences" after each killing spree conducted by members of your tribe whom you will not call by name; words like "we will not rest... until all murderers... are brought to justice". Do you care?

Sir, you have put Nigeria in a worse place than the previous administration did, but your health and your freedom to go and come to and from the UK as you please are more important than the millions of Nigeria who live in abject poverty and cannot afford basic health care. Do you care?

Sir, in 2019, please go home to Daura. We are no longer interested in your abysmal leadership, empty promises and crippling policies. You are a disappointment, a liar and a fraud. Please, do us all a favour. Step down. Go home.

Signed,

Ibiene
(A very concerned and tired Nigerian)
