Dreamer, I know

It is obvious we are on our own in this country. The government doesn't care (I know, I'm late).

So what are we going to do about our lonesomeness, about our aloneness?

Since government has been falling hand since 1960, it is our responsibility (as the citizenry) to create opportunities, jobs, to make art, to build, to teach the next generation so that they can do better. We ought to mentor and to show the way so that those coming behind us get better opportunities, are better equipped and miss the potholes we have fallen into (like electing idiots).

Nigeria is blindingly filled with mad, raw talent. In a country brimming with obstacles and legitimate, first-grade nonsense, it is a wonder we have managed to thrive. In a country where graduates are as surplus as sand and look for jobs for years after graduation, the amount of creativity pouring out of us is marveling.

The amount of young people running businesses, creating something out of nothing and doing the little they can to positively impact their circles of influence is remarkable and that is the way to go. We already provide our own power (generators), water (boreholes), security (mai-guards/gatemen), health care, roads and education; we are already basically millions of little independent colonies.

All I'm saying is: let government continue stuffing their guts with crude oil, over-grown babies staining their bibs, while we make magic.

I'm a dreamer, I know, but "the world belongs to dreamers."
